Matanzas is crossed by three rivers called Yumurí, San Juan and Canímar, over which a series of bridges have been built, so Matanzas is also known as "the city of the bridges". The landscapes that make up the surroundings next to the city are of singular beauty, among which the Pan de Matanzas and the Yumurí Valley stand out.

In Matanzas we find the famous beach of Varadero, one of the main destinations of the Caribbean with 21 km of white and fine sands and crystal clear waters, from where you can reach Cayo Blanco (by catamaran), a portion of island surrounded by even clearer and more beautiful waters. In Matanzas also locates the exuberant Montemar Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve because it is home to numerous animal species in Cuba.
