If you are thinking about traveling to Cuba in July you may be a traveler lover of nature tourism.
As in these months Cubans usually take their work vacations, which coincide with school ones, the cultural agenda comes alive.
Although traveling to Cuba in July 2021 is still marked by the context of the Coronavirus, where despite the fact that the mandatory quarantine for tourists arriving on the island with an organized travel package has already been eliminated, there are still mobility restrictions between provinces, night curfews and most of leisure establishments are closed. More information about Covid-19 and entry requirements in Cuba in our FAQ.
To keep up with the cultural Cuban agenda in July, we offer you a series of events that we find very interesting this month, some of them being located in other parts of the world, but always related to Cuban culture.
If you want to have a fun time and you have the opportunity to swing by the Trail Theater in Miami, Saturdays and Sundays "My sex robot" is presented.
It is a theatrical piece featuring Cubans with a well-known career on the stage and on television: Mijail Mulkay, Alina Robert, Alejandro Dávalos and Zajaris Fernández. Mijail Mulkay, Alina Robert, Alejandro Dávalos and Zajaris Fernández.
The plot of the piece revolves around the life of its protagonist, who after many sentimental failures, ventures with those sexual robots that are fashionable and which many consider "the perfect woman."
Laughter is guaranteed and, at the same time, its directors address a contemporary problem that is related to love relationships at the time of online dating.
More about cuban theater can be found if you get into our cultural routes we offer at Themed trips and routes to Cuba to live your passions.
The well-known artist Carlos Garaicoa has been exhibiting since last May at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Split, the exhibition “When the city sleeps, citizens wake up”, which is also composed of another project entitled “Memento Mori”.
This exhibition highlights the conceptual proposal that the artist has been developing throughout his career, associated with the theme of cities. On this occasion he addresses the model of the “bedroom town"so spread among the socialist countries to achieve "utopian social equality."
On the other hand, in “Memento Mori”, exhibited in Kula Gallery, you can find a selection of posters of famous war movies in Croatia. The exhibition includes a group of funerary sculptures built by local artisans. Added to this are Soviet postage stamps, which highlights the artist's intention to focus on the wars and crimes that occurred in the 20th century.
If you want to know more about the work of Carlos Garaicoa, you have the opportunity to do it with our tour through Vedado and visual arts, where we visit his studio in Havana.
In the exhibition, there is a very marked symbology and that is summarized in the flower as a visual metaphor for the female sexual organ.
The show is extremely lyrical, highlighting the strength of the colors that flirt with the pop visuals, the delicacy in the representation of flowers and an implicit allegory of women.
In addition, we find an influence of the oriental aesthetic. All this to present us with colorful canvases where a careful design and an accurate selection of the titles of the works prevail.
If you want to take a closer look at the work of Juan Moreira, “Mitología de lo erótico” is a good pretext for it. You will surely be captivated by its visually attractive proposals such as “La flor del mamey” and “Monte de Capricornio”.
You can discover more of this artist's work in the collection of the National museum of fine arts in our tour about Old Havana and visual arts.
Those who do not yet know the work of Glenda León in this exhibition will have the opportunity to appreciate a journey through their artistic career.
The exhibition includes installations, sculptures, series of drawings, photographs, and on-site installations, pieces created from 2008 to the present. One of the central works of the show is "Jardín emocional", created specifically for this project in the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Vigo.
In it, the artist gathers that lyricism that has always characterized her poetics, in which the natural and the music intervene. The artist, who studied ballet, philology and art history, embodies in her works that duality always present in her proposals: between sound and silence.
You can discover more about cuban art through the visit we propose to Fusterlandia in a vintage american car, where you will tour an art district created by José Antonio Rodríguez Fúster.
Daniela, who is still studying at Universidad de las Artes (ISA), has selected for the exhibition works from her most recent series "Aisladas".
In it, painting plays a preponderant role, although there are also installations and sculptures. The artist focuses her work on the female figure, representing her in idyllic natural settings, in moments of introspection and an intimacy that is invaded by the recipient who views the work.
On an aesthetic level you will find a very lively palette, which is influenced by the aesthetics of poster and pop visuals, although conceptually she is away from the world of the banal / objectual. She prefers to get closer to the intimacy of the female psychology.
If you are thinking about traveling to Cuba in July you can visit the exhibition in person at the gallery, by appointment; although also virtually through social networks Instagram and Facebook.
And, as we are talking about young cuban artists , we recommend you to read our post "Fashion design made in cuba, which you must know" so that you can catch up with the young cuban fashion designers.
The Casa de las Américas in homage to the 60th anniversary of “Palabras a los intelectuales” inaugurates the exhibition “Diálogos: Fidel y los intelectuales” in the Jose Antonio Echeverría library of said institution.
Those who attend the exhibition will find a tribute to the speech of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, delivered on June 30, 1961 at the National Library.
It is a speech that has remained for posterity to the same extent that it debated the cultural policy of a country and that served as a cultural axis for Cuba at that time.
Today subject to questioning and different interpretative approaches, the “Palabras a los intelectuales” is still at the point of analysis and being revisited by the intellectuals of Cuba today.
It is an exhibition called "Mis demonios”, in which the artist synthesizes his concerns, motivations and above all consolidates a very personal way of painting.
You will find large formats, an expressionist language, a palette that mixes color with black and white and a constant self-exploration. If you are by Madrid and you have the opportunity to visit the exhibition, you will be able to come into direct contact with a very personal poetics.
You will know the work of an artist who faces the blank canvas and without prior sketch, draws his "demons". He embodies in the process of painting those plural personalities that inhabit him and the result is shocking both in terms of aesthetic language and dimensions.
His work shows a certain influence from other great cuban artists such as Carlos Quintana. However, Yuniel's demons are unique. Those energies that drive him to an act of constant creation can be appreciated in this exhibition , his first major solo one in Madrid.
To continue discovering young Cuban talents, we recommend that you take a look at their presentations in the 13th Habana Art Biennale, which we can discover in "Cuban artists in Havana Art Biennale.
