Cuba travel advisory: where to stay in Cuba
In Cuba there are two types of accommodation, State Hotels and Private Hotels, better known as Private Houses, which are experiencing a real boom lately. The Hotels from the Government may have foreign capital participation, such as a Meliá Hotel, in which the correspondence of stars is not always equal to the European standard, for example, a 5-star may be a 4 or a 3 in Europe. There are, for example, colonial hotels with a lot of charm, and hotels and resorts of high luxury and comfort have been inaugurated in recent years.
The popular private Houses, are basically small privately owned hotels, with total independence and comfort, with super interesting proposals, many of them actually Boutique hotels.
Depending on the destination, we recommend one type of accommodation or another, for example, in the cays there are only state hotels, but in the rest of the country you have a wide selection of Cuban Private Houses that will serve you in an exquisite way.
Be careful because you can easily make mistakes, on the internet there is a lot of offer of houses, but not all of them meet the standards to which you are accustomed.
If you are looking for exclusive accommodations, either charming accommodation or simpler but well located lodges, we have a Private houses catalogue in Cuba which we totally trust.
