This route of contemporary Visual Arts is concentrated in the area of Old Havana, which will allow you to enjoy a walking tour through its squares and streets of the historic center. Conceptually we will show you a general panorama of the visual arts in Havana where the most institutional vision of art is mixed -represented by the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Higher Institute of Art-, together with more alternative proposals such as Espacio Seis- Six Contemporary Art Studio and the one in Triana and Usich.
His plastic expressions attest to a convulsive and fruitful artistic-cultural atmosphere; full of artists, collectors, institutions, alternative projects and events that guarantee the continuity of the visual arts in Cuba. Knowing this artistic framework from within, its operation and development, is an opportunity that can be experienced both from the state spheres, and from the private sphere.
Led by an independent tour guide, with a degree in art history and professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Havana, you will get to know the attractive and multicultural scene of Havana through art and its artists. It is charming to know it through the sieve of the creators that inhabit it; who have imagined it over and over again in canvases, sculptures, installations, performances, photographs, etc.
We will begin this interesting tour in Old Havana with a visit to National museum of fine arts, specifically to Cuban Art Building. A tour of its rooms will allow you to appreciate and learn about the main exponents of Cuban art from the colonial period to the present, where you can also visit the store and purchase a product if you wish.
Time to enjoy a cocktail or coffee at the bar the dandy, located a short distance from the museum, in what was an old winery, surrounded by excellent photographic art, an interesting collection of books and curious and old objects.
Then we will move within the same area to visit a contemporary Cuban art studio, the Space Six-Six Contemporary Art Studio created within the framework of the XII Havana Biennial (2015) and reopened on July 1, 2016. Here you will have the opportunity to meet Sandra Contreras, its artistic director, who works with young and promising artists and will be delighted to explain the trajectory of each artist who exhibits.
Later we went to an art gallery in the heart of the Santo Ángel neighborhood, Triana & Usich art space, where Pablo Ávila, the owner of the gallery and an artist himself, will guide us through a community group with authentic pieces of deep meaning for their Cuban culture.

To close the tour we will go to the Cubanacán neighborhood to know the academy where art professionals are trained in Cuba, the Higher Institute of Art. They will be able to enjoy an imposing signature architecture and will also get to know four of its five faculties, interact with their students and enjoy the academic atmosphere that is breathed in one of the jewels of Cuban architecture.
For lunch we will stop at a “paladar” where you can taste excellent traditional Cuban fusion food. The creative palate This is not a Café, next to the Plaza de la Catedral. A tasty tribute to artists who have marked the history of art: for example, taste a pork loin in mustard marinade in Duchamp's fountain, Pollock Chicken decorated with parsley and soy, Christo's Fish, Lam's Third World, Blue Klin, etc.
