About twenty minutes from Varadero and very close to the city of Matanzas is Valle de Yumurí, over which the highest bridge in Cuba crosses, Puente de Bacunayagua, with 110 meters.
The Yumurí Valley is an incomparable place a must for nature lovers, a protected area where endemic birds, vegetation such as royal palms, rivers and large extensions of sugar crops abound. Excellent place to take spectacular pictures and to taste a delicious and refreshing piña colada.We will visit in transit the city of Matanzas, known for its bridges and its neoclassical splendor. The striking Plaza de la Vigía constitutes the city's foundational core.
Strolling through the center of the city, the Parque de la Libertad offers a magnificent space to introduce you to the everyday life of Matanzas.
A short distance from the center of town, a visit to the Galería-Taller Lolo, a sui generis workshop, near San Juan river, where mud, glass, metal and teso turn into masterpieces from local artists.
We will also reach the Triolet Pharmacy, a French apothecary with 140 years of history and the only one of its kind in the world.
From here, we will go to Canímar River Valley, located only 27 kilometers from Varadero. You will enjoy a ride in a speedboat, kayak or boat, along the 11km of these tropical forests of rich flora and fauna.
The recreational and tourist site La Arboleda is the main and best of the facilities located on the banks of the river to enjoy an exquisite Creole lunch.A few minutes away is what used to be the old coffee plantation La Dionisia, very close to the banks of the Canímar river. Centennial walls, exotic vegetation and ancient constructions, mark the traces of the ruins that evoke the times of slaves and traditions.
