Remedios-Cayo Las Brujas

• Pick up at 09: 00h to start a city tour on foot of 1 hour with private guide around Remedios. From the station, you will take a colonial train to the Museum of the Sugar industry. After the visit, a private car will take you to Playa las Salinas, in Cayo Las Brujas.

• In this experience you can enjoy history, nature and the beach. Take a tour of one of the oldest villages in Cuba, as well as learn about the history of the sugar mills, ride an old steam train, visit a peasant farm, and finally, relax and refresh yourself in Cayo Las Brujas.

• Creole lunch at Finca la Cabaña.

• Return to Remedios around 7:00 p.m.

Remedios is one of the oldest villas founded in Cuba. Although it is a dynamic city, it might seem, due to its architecture, that time have stood still. Its 18th century buildings, its parks and its colonial atmosphere make this a perfect spot to discover the history, culture and life of Cubans in the center of the Island.

In a one-hour walk you can visit this typical town, cradle of Cuban pachangas and carnivals and visit the San Juan Bautista church founded in 1515, and the Church of Nuestra Señora del Buen Viaje, both in the main square.

Upon reaching the old railway station, you will take a steam train from the colonial era and in a twenty minute journey you will arrive at the Marcelo Salado Museum about the Sugar Industry, also known as the museum of steam locomotives for its collection of these old yet perfectly restored trains.

Located in an old sugar factory, this museum shows the evolution of the sugar industry since the time of the slaves and its importance in Cuban history.

On the way to Cayo Brujas, you will stop to enjoy a Creole lunch at Mi Cabaña farm, in El Curujey restaurant. In direct contact with nature, you can see how the Cuban peasants live and taste the authentic freshly "in-your-face" made guarapo, a refreshing drink extracted from sugarcane.

From Remedios to Cayo Las Brujas you are approximately 1h away. On the way to Cayo Las Brujas you will pass by a 48km road over the sea, known as Pedraplén, which connects the cays with the mainland from Caibarién. Enjoying the variety of blues of the Caribbean Sea during this jorney is an incredible sensation.

In Las Salinas Beach, you can enjoy a refreshing swim and a beautiful sunset on this 2km beach located in the second largest concentration of coral reefs in the world after Australia.
