Train around Valle Ingenios

• Pick up at 08:30 in your hotel.

• Transfer to theValle de los Ingenios in the mean that you choose: you can go by an old steam train, in a 2.5 hour journey with stunning views of the valley, or by private car with driver.

• The lunch will be served on a local paladar.

• The train journey ends at 2:30 p.m.

In Valle de los Ingenios or Valle de San Luis you can observe the natural beauty of an ecological and cultural system in which monuments, society and nature are mixed.

The valley was one of the largest sugar regions of the island and held african slave trade, but throughout the second half of the nineteenth century there was a great decline.

Despite this decline, there are still sugar estates of the time. The best preserved neoclassical architecture is the one of Manaca-Iznaga with its bell tower, belonging to one of the wealthiest families of the time, as well as the Hacienda Guachinango.

The tour ends at the ruins of San Isidro de los Destiladeros, an old rum distillery where African slaves worked. This is an interesting historical site to know the whole process of making spiritual drinks tou of sugarcane and also to know about the history of slavery in Cuba.
