This route of contemporary Visual Arts is concentrated in the area of Vedado and Playa. It is an alternative route that will take you into the workshops and studios of well-known prestigious artists such as José Manuel Fors, National Prize for Plastic Arts 2016. It will allow you to know the creative process from within, talk with the artists and know the dynamics of creating a masterpiece. On the other hand, the Avistamientos gallery will guide you through the circuit of private galleries in Habana, under the tutelage of Jose Bustos.

Accompanied by an independent tour guide, graduated in art history and professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Habana, you will know the attractive and multicultural scene of Habana from its art and its artists. It is lovely to know the city through the eyes of the creators who live there; who have imagined it again and again in canvases, sculptures, installations, performances, photographs, etc.
Its plastic expressions attest to a convulsive and fruitful artistic-cultural atmosphere; full of artists, collectors, institutions, alternative projects and events that guarantee the continuity of visual arts in Cuba. Knowing that artistic framework from within, its operation and development, is an opportunity that can be lived both from the state perspective, and from the private sphere.
ROUTE
We will start our art route through the Galería Avistamientos, one of the most appreciated private spaces in the Habana cultural network. The director of the gallery, the art collector José Bustos, will show you around, affering a look at works of several generations of artists.
From here, we will go to Estudio de José Manuel Fors, one of the initiators of the avant-garde of the late twentieth century in Cuba, a member of the so-called New Cuban Art, awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts of the National Council of Plastic Arts (2016). His work is characterized by his interest in memory as a fundamental topic.
We will continue the route to visit the Carlos Garaicoa studio, one of the Cuban artists with the most international awards, who divides his time between Habana and Madrid. We will be in touch with the work of a multifaceted creator, who works with a multidisciplinary team in his Open Studio, where some of his pieces are also exhibited. With this visit, we will know his artistic universe focused on his Habana, from ruin and utopia.
After this visit, we will stop for a brunch at paladar la Galería de Vedado, where in addition to fusion food, exhibitions of contemporary Cuban creators are organized.
We will continue the route to approach the studio of a solid yet transgressive creator within the feminine artistic discourse in Cuba, Lidzie Alvisa. Her work is based on photography and its manipulation, working with the human body from the perspective of pain and pleasure. Within her poetics, gender discourse and self-referentiality are key to understand her.
We will continue visiting one of the most appreciated studios in the contemporary visual panorama, 331 Art Space, a project of three young multimedia artists (working on photography, painting, installation...), who reflect Cuban news with a critical eye. We will have time to talk with them, as well as to learn more about their artistic and creative concerns.
We will finish the route in the Fábrica de Arte Cubano, an integrating space, a great creation laboratory where all artistic manifestations harmoniously coexist: cinema, visual arts, photography, graphic design, music, dance, theater, fashion, etc. An attractive setting in an old oil factory now turned into a gallery and a club, with gastronomic offer included.
LUNCH
For lunch we will stop in Vedado in the «paladar» La Galería, which combines the latest international trends with traditional Creole recipes. It also has a terrace where you can also enjoy exhibitions of contemporary creators.
